Digestion

Proper digestion is important for breaking down food into nutrients which the body uses for energy, growth, and cell repair. The body breaks down nutrients from food and drinks into carbohydrates, protein, fats, and vitamins where they get absorbed and utilized by the digestive tract.

Organs involved in the digestion process are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. These organs work in harmony to support the body with proper digestion, assimilation, and elimination, which affects the health of the body overall. This process is also supported by enzymes, hormones, nerves, and a healthy microbiome.

Any malfunction of these organs will affect the process of digestion and contribute to the development of digestive diseases, that might further affect the body systematically.

Diet and a proper nutrition have a profound impact in managing and preventing health issues related to poor digestive tract. Clients are educated on strategies for optimizing and modifying their dietary habits to achieve better nutrition and reduce GI symptoms.
