The word “lavender” comes from the Latin word “lavare,” which means “to wash.” That’s because in Ancient Rome, it was used to help freshen laundry.

The Egyptians used lavender for mummification and as a perfume.
Lavender oil is extracted mostly from the flowers of the lavender plant, primarily through steam distillation.
Because of its powerful antioxidant, antimicrobial, sedative, calming and anti depressive properties, lavender oil benefits abound, and it’s been used both cosmetically and therapeutically for centuries.
